Why we started Big Stakes

Technology changes what’s possible. Money determines what gets built. Power shapes who benefits. We started a podcast to understand what that means for the rest of us.

Big Stakes

We’re starting Big Stakes because we want to understand what’s changing, and what we should do about it. We want to connect the technology people are building, the money behind it and the decisions shaping who gets access.

AI makes it easier to build software. But building something people will pay for is still hard. And behind every AI tool sits a bigger question: who owns the infrastructure, and who carries the risk?

Three questions we keep coming back to

  • Who benefits?
  • Who carries the cost?
  • What choices does that create for the rest of us?
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of something that matters to your life, and a better question to ask next.

What’s in episode one

We share how a startup community introduction turned into four years of partnership, what we learned building Capitaly’s community of 500+ active members, and why we’re bringing our conversations to a podcast.

Then we dig into the DigiPower X–Cerebras data center deal, debating asset ownership, long-term AI demand and the commercial bets behind the infrastructure. We also explore energy constraints, semiconductor supply, space infrastructure, and whether household robots could become as familiar as cars and dishwashers.

How we’ll do it

We’ll bring our experience, challenge each other’s assumptions and be clear about what we don’t know. We’ll revisit the things we get wrong, on air and in writing.

What should we dig into next? Send us a question, a contract or a weird idea.
